LMT,CPMT, NCTMB, Reiki Master Practitioner
I have always known that I wanted to be of service in people's lives and been interested in caring for people when they are ill, empowering people, and adding to someone's quality of life. I did this as I studied to be a physician, finishing my medical degree at the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine. When I moved to the U.S., I continued my work in hospitals as a Chemistry Lab Technician, until another life turn in 1999:
My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we were told that there was nothing that could be done to cure him. I thought that, as a physician perhaps there was nothing I could do to help cure him; but, as a daughter there was much I could do to care for him. I incorporated massage into his day and saw how this made him feel better. I was not trained in massage then, but instinctively knew that I had to adjust the work as he became frail. When he passed away, I began training in massage therapy at the Muscular Therapy Institute/Cortiva, graduating in 2001. My massage profession is a "gift of my father's passing" because it brought me back to what I want to do in life.
My work is also my passion and I give my all in sessions – a lot of people have said that they feel this in my touch. However, my touch is also informed by my knowledge and skill. I design my treatments to always be safe and effective whether you have a medical condition or you are simply coming to relax. To design a treatment session that is appropriate for each individual, I combine knowledge from my training in medicine, massage therapy, Reiki, and other healing modalities that I have learned and continue to study. I love to learn, value all knowledge and paradigms of healing, and integrate my knowledge and experience to address each person as a whole being.
I feel very fortunate and grateful to be in the massage therapy profession. It has reinforced for me the power of human touch and how I can combine that with my desire to serve and empower people wherever they are in their lives. Whether I am working in my private practice at Be Well Partners, or as a Massage Therapist at The Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies / Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, my goal is to serve you, empower you, and partner with you in achieving your goals for healing and well being.
