JIM’S STORY

A senior in a M.S. in Criminal Justice program, Jim established his career while an undergraduate by working as a counselor/case manager in a nonprofit organization with court-appointed youth.

As a result of a class project, he developed an immediate interest in the emerging field of crime analysis and its supporting technology. When we first met, Jim had already identified several summer internship opportunities.

Career coaching helped Jim to:

  • Create a resume that clearly positioned his skills, experience and knowledge
  • Write targeted cover letters and thank you letters
  • Boost his confidence in interviewing
  • Raise his profile by maximizing his membership in a relevant professional association
  • Land an internship working directly with a crime analyst in a local police department
